Do I need a new consumer unit to pass an EICR?
Not necessarily. The decision depends on the EICR findings and the installation’s condition. An older or plastic consumer unit does not automatically require replacement.
How long does a consumer unit replacement take?
We normally allow a full day, including installation and testing. The duration depends on the existing circuits and any additional work identified.
Will I be without power?
Yes. Power will be off for much of the installation and testing. We coordinate access and explain the expected disruption in advance.
Do you notify Building Control?
Consumer unit replacements in England are generally notifiable under Part P. We explain the applicable Building Regulations notification arrangements as part of your proposal.
Can you install RCBOs instead of RCDs?
